Times Square Suspicious Package Causes Evacuation

Just days after a failed bombing attempt by Faisal Shahzad, a Times Square suspicious package scare caused the evacuation of Times Square by police. The bomb squad entered the area, and traffic was redirected. The package was found near the Marriott Marquis Hotel. It turned out to be an unattended bad, so do not get a personal loan to make a bomb shelter just yet.

Times Square suspicious package had nothing bad in it

The NYC Police Department bomb squad inspected the Times Square suspicious package. The parcel in question, left near 45th and Broadway near the Marriott Marquis was only a small lunch bag. A street vendor reported it, and also the NYPD found nothing of note in it, according to the New York Post. The evacuation was then called off.

Only bottled water within the Times Square suspicious package

The bag had only bottled water in it, as outlined by the Washington Post. Granted, bottled water doesn’t explode, but it could cause the normal person to explode with anger when they realize how much they overpay for it. (Believe it or not, a fair amount of water bottlers really use municipal sources – that’s tap water!) Now that I think of it, whenever you think of the BPA in the bottles and that bottled water has looser rules on its content than tap, the package could be considered dangerous.

You aren’t paranoid if they really are out to get you

This may seem like a humorous event, but considering a bomb almost went off a few days ago it seems justifiable. Many of us would probably have thought the same thing if it was us there. The intersection where the package was found was the exact same block where Faisal Shahzad’s ticking Times Square auto bomb was found. Thankfully, he was totally inept at bomb making. Though this seems a bit of a mountain made out of a molehill, the reality is that unfortunately, an ugly and odious air of Fear and Loathing is setting in. One ponders if it will ever leave.
